THE ABSTRACT

The Obsession of the Project Manager for Quality – Key Factor for Project Success, is a work that has as its central focus on project management, science is still widely discussed and disseminated in the last 10 years, but still not permeated the large projects in Brazil. The country still suffers from a number of projects which are completed with huge delays, cost overruns Homeric and large losses due to rework and scrap arising from mistakes in planning (majority) and execution. Culture of projects where the errors are part of the planning is being permanently replaced by a culture of accuracy, conformity requirements, planned and executed to perfection. Each day the requirements are greater, the pressure for time and cost is a result of competitive new products and new services. Professionalization of the position of project manager in Brazil grows each day until the end of this decade should become very common as a manager or supervisor. The projects are still very internalized to the environments of national or international companies, private or state, while not yet as common in other countries running large projects for groups of small businesses. But current trends in the growth areas in services converge every day more strongly in that direction. And in this complex scenario, is the central figure as the project manager, leading to stubbornly pursue the result in accordance with the requirements set. It is the great captain of the ship named project. Leadership, communication, science project management, negotiation skills, technical knowledge, integration capabilities of the parties, attitude, initiative, teamwork, conflict management and political organization are the skills most valued and important product of recent research in PMI chapters in Brazil.

But the project manager, maintaining an uncompromising focus on his proactive capacity, must obsessively pursue the potential causes of problems that have not happened yet, avoiding problems and conflicts with the project team, customers and sponsors during the execution of projects. This work was the subject of the presentation by the author in more than three decades of many experiences in the area and their lessons learned. This is not an academic or theoretical work but an intersection of concepts and experiences of decades being published. It is actually a proposal on how best results can be found in projects, through the proactive actions by the project manager
